5 de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day, but let’s celebrate it!

Although many people still think 5 de Mayo is the celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day, it is the celebration of the Mexican army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Anyhow, just because it happened in Mexico, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate it here in Miami. So get your sombrero, and get ready to eat, drink, and party like a Mexican!

For all the tequila, and Mexican food fans, mark down your calendars because it’s going to be a fun day with all the events going on.

Fête du Cinco de Mayo will be in Coconut Grove and it will include Mariachis, drinks, and prizes at the four participating restaurants on the area. This celebration starts at 8pm and lasts until 12am.

Come to the newest Mexican hot spot in Miami: Mercadito Midtown Restaurant. This new restaurant offers traditional Mexican food with a gourmet twist and it’s little more spicy than typical. Of course, Mariachis will be there to entertain guests along with 12$ “Vato Loco” drinks and $5 tequila shots. 3252 NE First Avenue Miami, FL 33137. Ph: 786.369.0430

10th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival on Espanola Way will feauture Mexican dancers, Mariachis, DJ’s, food from Oh Mexico, beer, and did we mention FREE Margarita shots for everyone? Festival starts at 6pm, but remember it can get a little crowded so get there a little earlier to find a parking spot. For further information please call 305.532.0490

Come to Dolores Lolita in Brickell and celebrate with bottles, complimentary tequila shots for the ladies and happy hour from 5pm-7pm. Doors open at 5pm for complimentary admission until 10pm, but ladies get in free all night. 1000 South Miami Ave.

After all the food and drinks, finish the night partying at LIV Nightclub for the Dirty Sanchez party, with DJ’s Ross One, Contra, and Jessica Who.
