A Story of Courage that Turned into an Example

Marc A. Buoniconti sustained a paralyzing spinal cord injury in 1985 while playing football for the Citadel. Son of Hall of Fame Miami Dolphin Nick Buoniconti, Marc and his father have dedicated their lives to helping cure paralysis.

After a spending a year confined to a respirator, Marc began a crusade to make a difference in the lives of others. He teamed up with The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the American Lung Association of Florida to raise money and awareness for pulmonary research.

In 1999, Marc agreed to serve as the Honorary Chairman of the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival and has continued to chair the festival for the past eight years. Marc was so impressed and enamored with the wonderful festival that he made a commitment to launch the first Annual Coral Gables Wine and Food Festival in 2002.
