Labor Day Weekend, another excuse to relax and take a few days off work but for some, it means time to PARTY! In Miami, we have a little bit for everyone so let’s see what this long weekend has to offer.
Labor Day Weekend might be the end of summer, but Miami is hot until November so going to the beach is still an option. Keep in mind that it’s going to be PACKED so parking might be an issue. Miami Spice is still going on, grab a bite at the hottest restaurants in the area after a day in the water. If you go on a Sunday, you can also pass by Lincoln Road for their weekly Farmers’ Market between Washington and Meridian Avenue from 9am-6:30pm.
For families, Jungle Island has a great deal! $10 admission on September 4th,5th and 6th, instead of the regular $32.95 for adults and $24.95 for children. You can spend the day interacting with the world’s most amazing animals and nature, and you don’t need to come with your little cousins or kids because you’re never too old to visit Jungle Island. If you wanted to get out of Miami but your budget is not so great, try the Hollywood Beach Hotel + Hostel. Great little hostel located just steps from the Hollywood Beach boardwalk, so getting to the beach is no problem. You can rent private rooms but if you want the hostel experience, you can share rooms with strangers and rent a bunk bed. For those looking to do something, well, different… The Great Grove Bed Race is taking place on Sunday, September 5th in Coconut Grove on the village streets (Commodore and Grand Ave.). Yes, a bed race! It benefits Alonzo Mourning Charities and University of Miami Sleep Center, and it will give you something to laugh at. This event is free. For more information on this, click here
