The Marlins are home for a great opening night. Fresh off three games at Citi Field, the Marlins make their Sun Life Stadium debut on at 7:10 p.m. ET on Friday night, when the Dodgers are in South Florida for three games.
More than 35,000 fans are expected, and the number could reach 40,000, depending on the walkup.
An assortment of pre-game activities is slated for Friday, before getting down to business against the Dodgers, including a military flyover and presentations of awards to Hanley Ramirez and Chris Coghlan.
Ramirez will be recognized for winning the 2009 National League batting title,
while Coghlan will be honored for being the ’09 NL Rookie of the Year.
Caught up in the excitement expected Friday night is Chris Volstad, who will be Florida’s starting pitcher.
In their home opener Friday night, the Marlins will be trotting out some impressive young players, including one of the best in all of baseball in All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez.
But the visiting Dodgers can say much the same thing, so there will be plenty of exciting talent on display this weekend at Sun Life Stadium as Florida opens its home schedule.
The two teams square off for the first of a three-game series at 7:10 p.m. ET, with 23-year-old right-hander Chris Volstad making his 2010 debut with the Marlins, matched against Dodgers veteran Hiroki Kuroda.
