The largest Latin American and international fashion event in the U.S. is back in Miami. The 12th annual Miami International Fashion Week kicks off this Thursday bringing four days full of the hottest fashions from around the globe strutting down the runway and you’ve just got to be there!!!
Beth Sobol founded Miami Fashion Week in 1999 following a successful career as an international fashion model. She has worked with some of the fashion world’s most influential designers and producers and launched Miami Fashion Week to provide a platform for designers from Latin America to gain international exposure. During the past 12 years, MFW has evolved into one of the world’s premier fashion events spotlighting designers not only from Latin America, but from Europe, USA and Canada, the Caribbean, Middle East and Asia.
World-renowned designers, entertainers and chefs will dazzle international jet-setters, celebrities and fashionistas attending this year’s non-stop celebration of events. More than 60 international designers will reveal their latest collections in women’s evening wear prêt-a-porter, swimwear, men’s wear, jewelry and accessories. They are flying in their collections from throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Lebanon, Europe and beyond.
Miami Fashion Week also shows the work of students and emerging artists in music, photography, graphic design and film, as they compete for scholarships and cash prizes.
From New Star to Special Guest
2001 New Star in Fashion award recipient, Silvia Tcherassi is back in Miami International Fashion Week, this time as special guest designer. With only 15 years in the fashion world, this Colombian designer is considered one of the most creative, innovative and versatile young personalities. Tcherassi has shown her prêt-a-porter collections as a special guest at the Fashion Weeks in Milan and Paris. Her unique style has been defined as having the delicateness of a ballet dancer and the strength of a rock star.
Trendy location, delicious food, great music
This year Miami International Fashion Week will take place in new location at_ the Shops at Midtown Miami in the trendy Wynwood Art District. This exciting_ new venue will host a line-up of glamorous fashion shows, jewelry and accessories marketplace, international chef’s pavilion, VIP sponsor lounges and multiple fashion and art displays.
The International Culinary Arts Pavilion, a spectacular new feature introduced and highly acclaimed last year, is back by popular demand. Guests will savor delicacies prepared by a different celebrity chef each night, bringing to life the culinary culture of the countries represented by the international fashion designers showcased on the runway.
And if you think this is not enough, the star-studded Miami Moda & Music Awards(r) will cap off MIFW with a fanfare of fashion and celebrity entertainment including an awards show featuring fashion, art, celebrities and music with international recording artists.
