Do you have a bunch of clothes you want to get rid of? How about swap them for something else? This past Saturday, March 22nd, Cafeina Lounge was the place to be for Swap Miami’s inaugural event. Instead of getting rid of things you don’t wear anymore and going to the mall to buy new clothes, pay $8 and exchange them for whatever they have there (only items that were gently used and still fashionable were accepted).
Cushy cakes was there selling their delicious and mouthwatering cupcakes, www.cushycakes.com, as well as Ecoist with their beautiful one of a kind purses and handbags made from candy wrappers and other recycled materials, www.ecoist.com
Swap Miami works like this: pay $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and take whatever you don’t wear or use anymore; shirts, dresses, hats, shoes, belts, purses. At the entrance, you get chips for the clothes you turned in, and with those chips you can “buy” whatever you like inside. Chips have different colors depending on the value of what you brought and everything is divided into sections to make it easier to search; Cheap and Chic, Everything in Moderation, and Lap of Luxury.
If you couldn’t make it to the inaugural event, make sure you come to the next one. This is said to be an annual event, but don’t be surprised if they do it again in four months so stay tuned for that. Start cleaning out your closet, saving all your unwanted items and get ready to swap them at the next Swap Miami event!
