So tell us…

How did you discover your passion for music?
I discovered my passion for music without really knowing when I was 13 years old and my grandmother gave me my first guitar. I always liked music but the moment I had an instrument in my hands, I was able to practice and evolve. I was able to get to know myself, and that’s how the music started.

Besides the guitar, do you play any other instrument?
When I first started, I played the violin and the flute. I can play a little bit with the piano but my strength is definitely the guitar, acoustic guitar more than the electric.

What’s your inspiration when it comes to writing the songs?
My inspiration… i’m a cancer, so i’m very sensitive. So basically in the whole process of learning and realizing what a song is, I noticed I write a lot about love. I think every single one of my ex girlfriends has a song. I wrote “If I could fly” about an ex, my next single “Luna” is another love story. But what’s life without love, right?

Are you working on any project right now?
I’m working on my new song “Luna,” it’s 95% finished and it will come out on ITunes soon. It’s definitely a new sound, it’s not something that I would do, not because I don’t like it, but because it wouldn’t come out naturally. Sometimes you create something with someone else’s help, so in this case “Luna” is a song that is universal, and anyone can listen to it. We wanted it to be a nice sound that doesn’t bother your eardrum. I’m Peruvian/Argentinian so I want to represent my culture through a sound, and that’s what Luna does. I’m also starting a College Tour on the 19th in Atlanta, and i’m playing different shows here in Miami.

Do people compare you to any other artist? If so, does it bother you?
Yes, thank God they do. I have the opportunity to be compared to many artists I admire, among them John Mayer, they recently did an article on Ocean Drive magazine where they compared me to Maroon 5. I’ve also been compared to Jack Johnson and it really doesn’t bother me at all. Sometimes people tell me “i’ve heard that song before” referring to one of my songs, so to me that means the song is good. If they compare me to another artist i’m fine with it, as long as they recognize my personal touch and style.

Who do you look up to in the music industry?
I have to be honest, I don’t have a favorite anything but I do admire so many artists. From Amy Winehouse, to Pink, Whitney Houston. I love John Mayer, I respect him a lot. It’s hard to pick just a few artists, i’ve listened to everyone from ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, to whatever’s on the radio right now.

Are you performing in Miami any time soon? Where can we see updates?
I have a show on February 25th at Club 50 at the Viceroy Hotel in Brickell. To be honest, I never post a schedule or anything because I book shows randomly so I never know where i’m going to be playing next. What do you like to do on your free time?
I surf, i was actually sponsored when I was in Peru, so when i’m not surfing or doing music, i’m on the computer promoting my music on facebook. That’s really what I do because I don’t have a lot of free time and I take advantage of the time I do have to promote what I do and my career. There’s so many people out there that want this as much as I do, so it’s better to use that time and do something productive.

And finally, what’s your IN place in Miami?
Definitely the beach but not the sand, I hate it. I love being in the water, it gives me time to think and expand my ideas. Besides the beach, I love my studio, this is where I am most of the time with At Molina.
